Natural Documentary Wedding Photography
For couples who want to enjoy their day, not perform for a camera.

RELAXED, AWARD-WINNING WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER FOR NEWMARKET, CAMBRIDGESHIRE, AND CAMBRIDGE

Your wedding is a celebration, not a photoshoot. You should be busy drinking prosecco, eating the canapés and hugging your gran - not watching a photographer work the room.
I read the day as it unfolds and capture the moments you didn't even know were happening - the tearful eyes, the belly laughs, the side glances. When you need direction I'll step in, and when you don't I'll step back. Either way, you get the images you'll want to keep forever, without ever feeling like you're performing for a camera.
And if we do sneak you away for ten minutes together, most couples tell me it ends up being their favourite part of the day.
My Approach
A calm, experienced hand on a busy day
1. I READ THE ROOM
Every wedding has its own rhythm. I find mine within it. There's no checklist, no staging, no gathering people into lines before they've had a drink. I capture the day as it happens - the moments you planned and the ones you didn't - and I step in with direction only when it's actually needed.
2. NO FORCED SMILES
When you look back at your photos, you shouldn't remember how long you stood waiting or how your jaw ached. You should remember how happy you felt - or even the nerves. (Both are completely worth capturing.)
3. The Breather
At some point in the day, I'll sneak you both away for fifteen or twenty minutes. Just a chance to catch your breath, be together, and let the day sink in. Most couples tell me it ends up being their favourite part of the day.
My goal is simple - hand you back your day, and make sure you enjoy every bit of it.

With You When It Counts

A wedding day moves fast. I move with it. I'm keeping an eye on the light and ready to step in - whether that's fixing a buttonhole, giving you a quiet nod when things get hectic, or gently steering the group shots so nobody disappears to the bar mid-family-photo.
When the timeline slips - and it often does - I don't panic. I just adapt. You won't feel rushed, and you won't feel managed. Fifteen years of wedding days teaches you that there's always a way to make it work.
YOUR FIRST MOMENT OF QUIET
If the idea of being photographed makes you cringe, you're in good company.
At some point in the day, I'll sneak you both away for fifteen or twenty minutes - away from the guests, the noise, and the running order. It's not a formal photoshoot. There's no shot list, no countdown, no posing guide. I'll find the best light, offer a bit of quiet direction, and then mostly just let you be together. If you're not sure what to do with your hands, I've got you - but there's no instructions barked across a lawn.
It's usually the first time all day you've had a moment to yourselves. Most couples tell me it ends up being their favourite part of the day. (I've yet to find one who regretted it.)
I'm a regular at top Newmarket and Cambridgeshire venues including Swynford Manor, The Granary Estates, Lanwades Hall, Chippenham Park and Bassmead Manor. I also regularly shoot across the border into Essex and Suffolk - so whether it's a historic Cambridge college or a modern barn, I know the best spots for your portraits.

WHY EXPERIENCE MATTERS
There are no second chances on a wedding day
While budgets are always a balancing act, photography is the one area where experience isn't a luxury - it's what stands between you and a gallery you may regret. Dark barns, bright midday sun, sudden downpours - I've shot in all of it and I know how to make it work.
1. The Right Tools
I shoot on the Sony A9III - one of the most advanced cameras in the world, used by Olympic sports photographers for its speed and precision. It's completely silent, meaning I can shoot during your vows without a single distracting click, and fast enough to never miss a moment. The ceremony stays yours.
2. Bulletproof Reliability
Backup cameras, backup lighting, a plan B for every scenario. In 15 years I've yet to meet a problem I couldn't shoot around.
3. Your Only Job Is to Enjoy It
I've been doing this for fifteen years. You don't need to worry about the photography - that's handled. Just enjoy your day, and trust that I'll make sure you've got the photos to show for it.

FAQ

We are awkward in front of cameras. Is that okay?
Good — it's basically my specialist subject. Some of my favourite portraits are of people who arrived convinced they were unphotographable. (They were wrong, by the way.) I'll give you enough direction so you know what to do, but never so much that it feels like hard work. You just have to show up.
Do you take family group photos?
Yes - and I know how much they matter. I recommend keeping the list to 10-15 combinations and having one person nominated to help round everyone up. Get that right and we're done in twenty minutes, everyone's happy and you're back at the party. Leave it to chance and, well - I've seen how that goes.
Have you worked at our venue?
Probably - I've been photographing weddings across Cambridgeshire and Newmarket since 2010 and I'm a regular at venues including Bassmead Manor, The Old Hall Ely, Swynford Manor, The Granary Estates and Holmewood Hall. If yours is new to me, I'll do my homework before the day. I've yet to turn up somewhere without knowing where the best spots are.
What happens if it rains?
We work with it. Rain makes for some of the most dramatic and memorable shots of the day - I bring professional lighting and umbrellas, and I always have a plan B for locations. This is England. I've never not had a plan B. And honestly, plan B's sometimes work out better than plan A.
How do we secure the date?
A £300 booking fee holds your date. Dates go on a first-come basis but if you need a little time to decide, just ask - I'll always do my best to hold it for you while you think it over.
Do you provide prints?
Yes. Every package includes high-resolution digital files with full printing rights, and I also offer access to a professional print lab through your gallery - museum-quality prints and albums at trade prices, no markup. Your photos deserve to be on a wall, not just on a hard drive.
Can you provide video?
I can shoot a few short 'hybrid' clips for social media, but for a proper wedding film, I strongly recommend a dedicated videographer.
To be honest, be wary of photographers offering 'a bit of video' or 'hybrid coverage' as a cheap add-on. Doing both jobs professionally at the same time is near impossible; one always suffers. I refuse to compromise the quality of your photos for the sake of an upsell.
I work regularly with some of the best filmmakers in Cambridgeshire. I can arrange everything for you - handling the booking and the briefing - so you get a seamless team and a stunning film, without the risk.
However, if you simply want a record of the vows and speeches, I can offer a Static 4K Recording as a paid add-on. I set up a tripod to capture the ceremony and speeches in high quality, giving you a safe archive of the words spoken without the cost of a full video team.
Are you fully insured?
Yes. I hold full Public Liability and Professional Indemnity insurance. It's eye-wateringly expensive, but this is my full-time profession - not a side hustle. I take protecting my business, and your wedding, seriously.
Do you work with a second shooter?
For larger or more complex days I can bring in a second photographer - someone I know and trust, not a stranger I've found online. It means more coverage, different angles, and nobody disappearing to find the groom while I'm with the bride. Worth discussing if your day is particularly big or has a lot happening simultaneously.
How far in advance should we book?
Popular dates - particularly Saturdays from May to October - go quickly. A year to eighteen months ahead is common. That said, I've turned around a wedding in 48 hours before. I don't recommend it, but I can do it.
